Winning Columbus weekend

The Elite 9 and Boston Hockey League would like to congratulate the Springfield Jr. Rangers (Thunderbirds) 15 Elite, the Junior Railers U15 Selects, and the New Hampshire Avalanche 2012 Elite on winning their respective tournaments this past weekend.  

The Springfield Rangers won the Columbus Day Shootout this past Monday at Tri-Town Arena in Hooksett, New Hampshire. The Rangers started out the tournament with a few bumps in the road going 2-2 in pool play. This secured them a 4th seed in the playoffs. They quickly found their grove when it mattered in the semifinals beating Mass Conn United 8-6. In the championship game against the VT Jr Cats. This game was a back-and-forth with the Rangers winning by one goal in an 8-7 final! 

The Junior Railers U15 Selects team participated in the EHF Fed series tournament over the weekend. The Railers finished the tournament 4-1 defeating the Providence Hockey Club, Long Island Gulls, and the Highland Park Falcons. The Railers were shorthanded entering the playoffs but ultimately got their revenge in the championship game defeating the Long Island Gulls 4-1.  

The 2012 NH Avalanche Elite won the Green Mountain Avalanche Columbus Day Tournament Championship at Jay Peak this weekend over the 2012 Boston Jr. Bruins in a shootout. It was an intense game between the Avalanche and the Jr. Bruins. The Jr. Bruins scored in the first period and held their lead until the 3rd, when the Avs scored 3 quick goals to bring the score to 3-1. The Jr Bruins scored their 2nd goal with only a few minutes left in the third period.  The Jr. Bruins pulled their goalie and scored with 36 seconds left to tie it. In the best of 5 shootout, the Avs scored 3 out of 4 while the Jr Bruins were held to only 1 goal. The Jr. Bruins then beat the NH Avalanche in the first game of the Jay Peak tournament 6-5 to secure the 1st seed. But, it was the number 2 seed, the NH Avalanche 2012 Elite team, that came away with the win when it mattered most - in the Championship!
